King’s Casino Owner And Australian Poker Player’s $3 Million

The number of strange incidents that have taken place at poker tables around the world are too many to counted. Some of the more recent ones include poker pro Antonio Esfandiari urinating under a poker table as he would have been forced to lunge his way to the toilet based on a prop bet he accepted with Bill Perkins.

During the recent 2017 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event poker players Tony Bracy and Lazaro Hernandez caught the attention of the organizers and the public after the two engaged in a weird shouting incident that disturbed the otherwise serious atmosphere at the tables.

However the incident that is now making news involves the Czech Republic’s Kings Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik and Australian poker pro Matthew Kirk who exchanged $3 million at the Aria Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The exchange happened in May 2017 after Kirk is seen on CCTV passing poker chips to Tsoukernik that is estimated to be around 3 million. Kirk had followed this up by sending Tsoukernik text messages saying ‘Gave you 500k’, ‘Gave you 1 million’ and a final one saying ‘Total of $3 million sent’.

Tsoukernik responded to each of those messages with a simple ‘ok’. Once all of the chips have been exchanged, the two get up and shake hands according to CCTV images. However a few minutes later, Tsoukernik would sent across two text messages saying ‘Not Valid’ and ‘0 Now’.

Kirk stated that he loaned the money to Tsoukernik as part of a business deal and now wants the money back and Tsoukernik is not willing to repay the amount. Tsoukernik denies Kirk’s claim that the money was loaned to him and has instead claimed that Kirk was actually paying back a gambling debt. Tsoukernik has won more than $2.6 million in tournament winnings and runs the successful King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. The casino is known for having the biggest poker room in Europe.

Since the two players were unable to sort out their differences, lawsuits have been filed and the case will be heard by a Clark County court. Kirk’s lawyers claim that Tsoukernik’s text messages prove that he never had any intention of replaying the loaned amount. There are reports that Tsoukernik paid back $1 million to Kirk after winning the Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria for $1.8 million towards the end of May but has no intention of paying back the remaining amount.
