PokerRankings.org’s number 1 poker room, Full Tilt Poker has been very busy overhauling their software, setting up new promotions, and even adding the innovative Rush Poker; changes that initially increased the site’s traffic to around 20,000 real money players in January, according to pokerscout.com. However, the online poker giant hasn’t been able to hold on to those players, and despite all of the upgrades and changes Full Tilt’s traffic has dipped back down to 15,000 –right where they were before the changes.
On the other side of the coin is Pokerstars. The #1 online poker room has made a few rather minor changes over the same period –nothing along the lines of Full Tilt Poker’s major overhauls—and has managed to increase its traffic even further! According to pokerscout.com’s trends, PokerStars has gone from averaging 25,000 real money players, to Read the rest of this entry…

It has come to the attention of the media that online poker rooms that are based within the United States of America are having an increased amount of difficulty with the processing of deposits made by their members from their credit cards.
The issues started to happen when the UIGEA was passed in 2006 and since that point, the online poker sites have been finding that more and more of the major credit card issuing banks are rejecting funding to be sent to the site in order to fall into line with the UIGEA.
This has meant that players are having to find alternative methods of placing their deposit into the sites in order to get their funds into their playing account.
The knock on effect of these issues has seen a number of players having to seek Read the rest of this entry…

In 2008 the Netherlands imposed a 29% tax on poker winnings, a move that saw many top Dutch players leave the country in search of countries with more lenient tax laws regarding poker. For the players who stayed, hoping the laws were more show than anything, it would seem the Dutch are taking the new tax laws very seriously.
One example is Steven Van Zadelhoff, a top poker player both online and live, who had his home raided by Dutch authorities. Zadelhoff, who has won the PokerStars Sunday Million in addition to numerous other tournament wins and cashes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, is a sponsored pro for Everest Poker.
Zadelhoff’s lawyer has stated Read the rest of this entry…

Better known for Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Mario Bros than for No-Limit Holdem, console game giants Sega have announced their entry into the competitive world of online poker.
Launching their site on the established iPoker network, collectively the 3rd largest pool of poker players online, means that the software back-end is run by playtech – limiting the amount of animation and feature changes possible. While those expecting a Sega all-action experience at the tables may be disappointed, the lively branding is instantly recognizable from the first time you see the Sega Poker website.

In one of the strangest moves in online poker history, the iPoker Network has enacted a policy where it will penalize sites that have a disproportionate number of “good” players! The move makes tactical sense, but doesn’t seem to have the potential to work in the real-world.
Ipoker was likely assuming that the move would lead their network of sites to come up with new, innovative, ways to bring players to their poker tables –instead of relying on rakeback deals, and other promotions that appeal mainly to high-volume, winning, poker players.
Instead, what iPoker got were Read the rest of this entry…
