Tony Parker signs for BetClicThe French online poker site Bet Clic has pulled off a major signing, but not from the poker world; instead they inked one of France’s best known athletes, NBA superstar Tony parker. The deal is reported to be for three years, and according to OnlinPoker.net, Parker joins Bet Clic’s growing stable of athletes, joining Marcel Desailly, Stefan Effenberg and Kiko Narvaez as French athletes representing the site.

When it was announced that Season 6 of the popular poker show, High Stakes Poker, was going to air on Valentine’s Day 2010, forums were alight with excited posters wondering which professionals would feature over the series.

However, the excitement and joy quickly turned to despair and sorrow as it was also announced that one of the co-hosts, AJ Benza, would not be returning to the screen, instead Gabe Kaplan would be joined by Kara Scott instead.

While Miss Scott is a top presenter in her own right, having extensive broadcasting experience through the European Poker Tour and World Series of Poker Europe shows, many saw Kaplan and Benza as a great comedy double-act who bounced off each other and were part of the reason why High Stakes Poker is so popular. True to his Modus Operandi, Isildur1’s return to the high stakes tables on Full Tilt Poker have seen two huge wins followed by an even bigger loss. After lighting up a who’s who list of online poker including Justin Bonomo, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, and Brian Hastings in his first two days back at the nosebleed tables the mysterious online poker player from Sweden’s bankroll took a massive hit.

According to Highstakesdb.com, the day started with a short session with Tom Dwan that resulted in a $33,000 loss. Isildur1 followed this up with a rematch against Justin Bonomo, whom he relieved of some $550k a few days ago, but this time it was Bonomo getting the best of it and ending the battle up $233k.

Isildur1, the mystery man who turned online poker on its head in late 2009 was back at it last night, mixing it up on the high stakes tables at Full Tilt Poker.

According to Cardplayer.com, Isildur1 was quickly found himself in the hole $90k, against Isaac “ILovetheWNBA” Haxton. Playing 8-tables of PLO –which is definitely Isildur1’s second best game—Haxton called it a night fairly early, at which point Isildur1 switched over to take on Justin “zeejustin” Bonomo at $200/$400 NLHE.

A week ago on another site, I wrote a column pointing out five poker players to watch in 2010, and one of those players was 2006 WSOP runner-up Paul Wasicka. And finally one of my predictions has come true!

Wasicka was able to capture the WSOP Circuit series championship in Tunica, winning close to $140,000 for his efforts. The $5,000 buy-in tournament attracted a total of 96 players consisting of mainly local pros and some big-name out-of-towners like Wasicka.

The poker community is alive with rumors again today with the latest story been revealed as Full Tilt Poker have resigned Juan Carlos Mortensen to their sponsored professional player roster.

Although the move seems to have been completed out of the media spotlight, there is evidence that the player has rejoined forces with the worlds second biggest online poker room.

Mortensen, also known by his nickname “The Matador” has not made any announcement surrounding these rumors but recently the players name have been shown in the red of the professionals on the online poker room, leading to rumors and stories coming to light.

Poker player Jason Ho has come under fire recently on several fronts; accused of everything from misrepresenting his winnings to scamming people in a phony investment scheme.

Rumors started to swirl on the StoxPoker forums where many players were complaining about Ho –an instructor on the site—and questioning his credentials. At the forefront of the mess is Ho’s assertion that he won $1 million in 2008 playing online poker; a claim he has never been able to prove.
