UKIPTThe PokerStars UKIPT schedule has been released by Pokerstars and it looks like it’s going to be an absolute cracker. There are 8 events currently penciled in with a ninth event expected to be added soon which will take place in Scotland. The UKIPT schedule currently includes events in both England and Ireland including the Irish Poker Championship as well as
EPT London. The UKIPT is expected to take over as the UK and Irelands premier poker tour and all events in season 1 are predicted to sell out very quickly.

The full UKIPT schedule can be viewed using the previous link. The tour will kick off in Galaway Ireland on December the 8th. This event is also the Irish Poker Championship. The buy in is €2,000 and there is a 400 player cap meaning the prize pool will be in excess of €500,000. Event two doesn’t take place until the new year in Manchester. After the Manchester events the UKIPT visits Coventry, Nottingham, Killarney, Brighton, Dublin and London for the EPT and UKIPT grand final. Players who win any of the
events in the build up to EPT London will be given a free London EPT package.

Satellites are running on Pokerstars right now for the UKIPT Galaway event and will run for every event on the UKIPT schedule. Super satellites start at as little as $2 so no matter what your bankroll you can give qualification a crack. Players who have managed to obtain Platinum status on the Pokerstars VIP ladder can buy directly into UKIPT
events online using their W$ if they want to. You must email Pokerstars to arrange this.

If you are planning your live poker trips around the UKIPT then make sure you decide which events you are going to attend soon. All events are expected to sell out extremely quickly and even though player caps are as much as 700 for some events places are predicted to go like hot cakes. Get over to Pokerstars as soon as you can and start trying toqualify to ensure you book your place in this years UKIPT.

Rumors are already suggesting that season 2 of the UKIPT, expected to start around the back end of 2010, will see an addition of at least 3 events to the UKIPT schedule. Players in the UK and Ireland have never had it so good. Live poker is on the up and the Pokerstars UKIPT is leading the way!

ukiptThe PokerStars UKIPT (UK Ireland Poker Tour) is due to kick off on the 11th of December in Galway, starting with the Irish Poker Chanmpionship. This tournament is expecting to pull in some of the biggest poker players from around the UK and Ireland, and will probably attract a few of the bigger names from further a field due to PokerStars being involved with the event. The UKIPT Galway, which is expected to start on the 11th of december and run through to the 14th, which will then see one player crowned the Irish Poker Champion.

Big names will be expected to turn up, such as the new boy on the PokerStars team, Jude Ainsworth. PokerNewsBoy released a story about two weeks ago about PokerStars soon announcing Jude as one of the team. So with Ainsworth being from Ireland, all the expectations will be on him to do the PokerStars team proud. However, it is highly unlikely that Ainsworth will be the only big name to appear from the PokerStars team. Poker players such as Marcel Luske and Vicky Coren will be their to give new boy Ainsworth their support and also try and help PokerSars to another great win, so soon after PokerStars Joe Cada winning the WSOP Main Event.

tom-dwanGSN’s recent poker reality-show ’2 Months 2 Million’ featured four top online poker pro’s trying to earn $2 million collectively over two-months. From November 17th -19th in London, England we’ll witness ‘2 Men 1Million’: When Full Tilt Poker pro Tom ‘durrrr” Dwan will pit his skills against poker’s biggest high-rollers in a series of heads-up challenge matches with $1 million on the line in each match!

The match stipulations are very few, and easy to understand: Each player will buy-in for $500,000 and the match will last 500 hands, or until a player is broke. Dwan’s opponents will have the choice of picking either Pot Limit Omaha or No Limit Hold’ Em, and neither player is allowed to quit the game until the 500 hands are over, or a player goes busto.

Already lined up for the matches are English high-stakes player Sammy “any two” George, Ilari “ziigmund” Sahamies, and Marcello “Luckexpress” Marigliano. Another player durrrr is hoping to see in London is Isuldur1: The unknown online poker player has taken close to $5 million of Dwan’s money in recent weeks at the Full Tilt Poker tables.

James AkinheadWow what a year for British Pro and Hit Squad Member James Akenhead, first off he is one on the November 9 elite, made the WSOPE final table finishing a respectable 9th and has now made his third final table in sucession by reaching the final of the FULL TILT Poker Million, sending Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and the Magician Antonio Esfandiari to the rail along the way. The final table will be no easy run either though as the ever tough Juha Helppi will be in attendance along with card runner founder Taylor Caby, Dag Martin Mikkelsen and the colorful figure that is Luke “_FullFlush1_” Schwarz all in attendance, with Schwarz holding the chip lead going into the final it will make for some interesting action.

“I’ve watched previous Poker Million’s on television, so to get to the final table in my first appearance is something I’m proud of,It’s the biggest tournament of this structure I’ve ever played in.” commented Akenhead.

6 out of the final 7 have been named but 1 space is still up for grabs and this will be filled by a FULL TILT online qualifier.

James goes into the November 9 showdown in Vegas as the short stack with just over 6.8 million in chips and is a 16-1 shot with betting exchanges but with the run of form he is on at present it will be hard to class him as out of the running.

As the US sees the number of entrants at major poker tournaments dwindle –with the exception of Borgata where the cut the buy-in by almost two-thirds—European tournaments have seen their numbers increase: And this was no more evident than at this past weekend’s Boyle Poker International Poker Open which took place in Dublin, Ireland.

The International Poker Open, sponsored by Boyle Poker, broke its own record –set last year—for the largest live poker tournament in Europe: The previous record of 1,300 players was shattered as the IPO drew an astonishing 1,440 entrants.

Ireland was well represented at the final table, with a full seven out of nine players hailing from the Emerald Isle. But, in the end it was a player from Luxemburg, via Germany, who took home the title: Markus Sippe. Sippe will take home $62,250 for winning the $225 buy-in tournament.

Jesse MayJesse May ‘The Voice of Poker’ cashes at the Boyle Poker IPO. Jesse May, more infamous for his poker commentary rather than his playing ability cashes at the Boyle Poker IPO for $700.

Although a main stream name among poker players and fans, Jesse May’s reaction after cashing, beating a massive 1348 players to finish in 52nd place, was of more surprise and excitement than would have been expected considering he only cashed  for  $700. However taking into consideration it’s Jesse’s biggest cash since 2000 when he cashed for $1159 in the, Euro Finals of Poker, PLO event where he finished 9th. So it wasn’t surprising that Jesse was over the moon by the massive accomplishment.

In a statement following the result, Jesse was heard commenting, “If any other player in the tournament had my hands, he would have had won it by now.”

Jesse would be the first to mention the fact that his poker record is a bit laughable among the poker players he calls good friends. However, I doubt they would ever mention it to him. lol.

PokerNewsBoy would like to congratulate Jesse May for his fantastic 52nd place finish. And would also like to congratulate our very own Gerry Poltorak for finishing in 90th.
