EPT Barcelona sets Spanish poker record

You can chalk up yet another attendance record to the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour (EPT) after 811 players turned out for the EPT Barcelona Main Event, making it the largest poker tournament ever held in Spain. Although it fell short of the total prize-pool record set at the 2010 EPT Grand Final in Madrid (which features a €10,000 buy-in compared to the €5,000 buy-in at standard EPT stops), the 2011 EPT Barcelona easily surpassed the Spain attendance mark set at last year’s EPT Barcelona tournament which saw 757 players register.

With two days in the books the remaining players are competing for a piece of the massive €4,055,000 prize-pool, with most of them eyeing the €850,00 first-place prize.

The current chip-leader heading into Day of the tournament is Frenchman Guillame Darcourt. Darcourt is still sporting the pink hair that propelled him to a very deep in run in the 2011 WSOP Main Event, before running into Ben Lamb –and we all know how running into Ben Lamb turns out at a poker table!

Here is a look at the current chip-leaders entering Day 3 of the EPT Barcelona Main Event:

1. Guillaume Darcourt — 195,300

2. Martin Schleich — 182100

3. Vytautas Milvydas — 172,400

4. Gerardo Rodriguez Forteza — 170,800

5. Benjamin Juhasz — 165,800

6. Mario Adinolfi — 169,000

7. Sam El Sayed — 163,200

8. Marcello Marigliano — 160,800

9. Eugene Katchalov — 153,100

10. Dmitry Gromov — 152,200
