Joe Cada in the hunt with 24 players remaining in San Remo

With just three tables of poker players remaining from the nearly 1,000 that began the EPT San Remo Main Event there are a number of top poker players still vying for the title –not to mention the €930,000 first-place prize—but one name definitely stands out amongst all of the others, and that name belongs to the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Cada.

Cada is making his first deep-run in a major tournament since his historic win in 2009 when he became the youngest player ever to win the World Series of Poker Main Event; in fact Cada has cashed only a single time his WSOP victory, in the 2010 PCA High-Roller tournament.

There are still 24 players remaining in the field, but Cada is prime position to make a final table push as he finds himself currently sitting in 5th place on the leader-board. Here is a look at the top 10 chip counts heading into Monday’s action at the EPT San Remo:

1.    Nicolas Yunis — 2,281,000
2.    Rupert Elder — 1,894,000
3.    Luigi Pignataro — 1,796,000
4.    Max Lykov — 1,722,000
5.    Joe Cada — 1,619,000
6.    Nicola Grieco — 1,615,000
7.    Andrew Teng — 1,600,000
8.    Massimiliano Manigrasso — 1,560,000
9.    Diego Bolzoni — 1,552,000
10.    Max Heinzelmann — 1,445,000

In addition to Cada, one other Team PokerStars Pro is also still in the hunt for the title, and happens to be sitting just a single spot ahead of Cada on the leader-board: Max Lykov.
