michaek eiker wins eptDaniel Negreanu may have been the odds-on-favorite to win the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Vienna championship, but when all was said and done it was 20 year-old Michael “mae9690” Eiler who was able to raise his hands in triumph.

Negreanu entered the day of the < ahref="http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tournaments/vienna/">EPT Vienna with a fairly large chip-lead, but saw his stack go on a rollercoaster ride for most of the day. Despite this, Negreanu had a chance to take a commanding lead in the tournament, but ran his top-two-pair into the nut-straight, and instead of knocking out two players and having a huge stack, he found himself sitting on roughly 2 million chips. Reduced to a push/fold strategy it wasn’t long before Negreanu was eliminated in 4th place, denied his first EPT title.

The talk after the tournament revolved around whether Martin Hruby slow-rolled Negreanu during the fateful hand. Negreanu was none too happy with the amount of time it took Hruby to not only call with the nuts, but to turn over his cards.

Here is a look at how the EPT Vienna final table played out:

  1. Michael Eiler — €700,000
  2. Martin Hruby — €470,000
  3. Konstantinos Nanos — €265,000
  4. Daniel Negreanu — €175,000
  5. Luca Cainelli — €140,000
  6. Andreas Wiese — €105,000
  7. Matthias Lotze — €76,000
  8. Bruno Launais — €60,000
