Despite the lack of starpower at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo the final table is set to be very explosive, with the entire pack chasing chip-leader, and online qualifier, Nicolas Chouity.

The two biggest names remaining flirted with the final table –Nick Schulman finished in 18th place and Sami “LarsLuzak” Kelopuro in 12th place—leaving Andrew Chen, a 22 year-old Canadian Pro as the most well-known player remaining. All that will become moot when the tournament is over, since the winner is likely to shoot-up the poker ranks and become an instant poker star.

The likely candidate is the aforementioned Nicolas Chouity who holds 40% of the chips in the play, and holds an almost 3-to-1 chip lead over his nearest competitor.

The final 8 players, along with their seat and chip counts, can be found below:

Seat 1: Herve Costa, 1,590,000
Seat 2: Roger Hairabedian, 1,130,000
Seat 3: Aleh Plauski, 1,695,000
Seat 4: Dominykas Karmazinas, 2,285,000
Seat 5: Josef Klinger, 1,170,000
Seat 6: Mesbah Guerfi, 3,670,000
Seat 7: Nicolas Chouity, 10,280,000
Seat 8: Andrew Chen, 3,670,000

Play kicks off at Noon local time on April 30th, 2010.
