PokerStars EPT London drawing huge crowds

EPT_LONDONAs the tournament series builds-up to the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) London Main Event, several other high-profile events are on the schedule this weekend, including the EPT London Super-High-Roller event and the UKIPT London Main Event.

The Super-High-Roller

One of the biggest events on the schedule of the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) stop in London is the £50k buy-in Super-High-Roller tournament. The opening day of the event was Friday, where 38 players decided to part with £50k –and with reentries available some players bought in a second time, and in one case a third time—and just before play got underway on Saturday three more players joined the fray, along with three more reentries. One of those final three reentries was Philipp Gruissem, who was firing his fourth bullet in the tournament!

The final tally for the tournament saw 41 unique players and 17 reentries, for a total of 58 entries; creating a prize-pool of nearly £3 million, which should make the winner of the tournament a millionaire –although, considering the buy-in, it’s quite likely the eventual winner is already a millionaire!

Day 1 ended with just six players having been eliminated (and as mentioned above three of those players reentered prior to the start of Day 2) and is expected in events like these; some very big names at the top of the leader-board:

1. Johannes Strassmann — 1,530,000

2. Steve O’Dwyer — 903,000

3. Bill Perkins — 760,000

4. Daniel Negreanu — 659,000

5. John Juanda — 607,000

6. Christoph Vogelsang — 607,000

7. Shawn Buchanan — 591,000

8. Jeff Gross — 523,000

9. Fabian Quoss — 478,000

10. Martin Finger — 477,000

The UKIPT London Main Event

Meanwhile, the UKIPT series is once again a part of the greater EPT London series, and the numbers for the Main Event are a reflection of how successful this absorption of smaller tournament series has been for the EPT.

Day 3 of the tournament on Saturday will see just 35 players return to the tables, all of whom will be looking to make Sunday’s final table. Among the players still in the hunt are Sunny Chattha (who recently won the GUKPT Manchester tournament), Paul Zimbler, and the polarizing Vladimir Geshkenbein, who sits just outside the Top 10 chip-counts:

1. Daniel Stacey — 1,400,000

2. Adrian Demusca — 902,000

3. Dario Sammartino — 852,000

4. Jack Salter — 828,000

5. Robert Bull — 739,000

6. Eugenio Verde — 677,000

7. Vytautas Spakauskas — 628,000

8. Sunny Chattha — 575,000

9. Paul Zimbler — 562,000

10. Rumen Nanev — 517,000
