A huge turnout for the UK Ireland Poker Tour tournament in Nottingham England has dwindled down to the final 8 players who will take to the poker tables later today to fight it out for the championship. The £500 buy-in tournament will go down as the second largest poker tournament in the UK, with 650 total entrants –the only major poker tournament with a larger field was this past year’s EPT London event.

Going into the final table the home crowd will definitely have a lot of players to root for, with six of the eight competitors residing in the UK. However, they will all be chasing chip-leader Owen Robinson from Ireland and his 2.4 million chips – Robinson’s nearest competitor has 1.8 million. Rounding out the final 8 is Poland’s Piotr Majewski.

A remarkable three of the eight final table competitors qualified for the tournament through PokerStars, which will give the #1 online poker site a huge presence at the final table.

The final table payouts will be:

1. £80,000
2. £46,700
3. £30,000
4. £21,400
5. £16,500
6. £13,200
7. £9,900
8. £7,600

The next stop for the UKIPT will be in Killarny from June 24-27, and will feature a £1,000 buy-in tournament. You can quilify online at PokerStars for all UKIPT Events.
