Binion’s Poker Classic vs The WSOP

Binons Poker Classic or wsop

When the World Series of Poker kicks off on May 27th it won’t be the only game in town. The original home of the WSOP will be running the 4th annual Binion’s Poker Classic, a series of poker tournaments with a pared down buy-in compared to its cross-town rival, Harrah’s and the World Series of Poker.

The 46 tournaments at Binions feature buy-ins as low as $100, and much like the tournament the Casino made famous culminates in a Main Event. Unlike the WSOP, Binion’s Poker Classic tournaments are mostly one-day affairs, and not the long three, four, five or more day tournaments that the WSOP runs.

So, while the action over at the Rio may be great for spectators, poker players with less of a bankroll may want to take a ride to Downtown Las Vegas and play in one of the more economically priced tournaments at Binions. A quick bust-out also gives you the opportunity to take in the Gallery of Champions and some of the nostalgia from the landmark casino’s past: Remember, this is where the WSOP was played since its inception, and also the site of the Johnny Moss vs. Nick Dandalos marathon poker match.
