Tournament Report: ANZPT, Estrellas and Vegas action

For nearly two months the World Series of Poker casts a full eclipse on the rest of the poker world but there was plenty of action taking place towards the tail-end of the summer tournament series and in the immediate aftermath. In this column I’ll try to get you up to date on some of the recent winners (in the past two weeks or so) of tournaments that do not have the Acronym WSOP in their title.

Borja Gonzalez Urteaga wins Estrellas Poker Tour San Sebastian Main Event

The €1,000 buy-in Main Event in San Sebastian attracted 269 players to the latest Estrellas Poker Tour stop, awarding €66,800 to the winner, Borja Gonzalez Urteaga.

Jonas Lauck wins Caesars Mega-Stack Main Event

Over 1,600 players entered the $1,000 buy-in Caesars Mega-Stack Main Event in the middle of July, creating a $1.5 million prize-pool that would see the winner receive $260k.

Tim West wins Venetian Deepstacks Main Event

Lock Poker Pro Tim West, Shannon Shorr, William Reynolds, and Kevin Saul were all final table participants in the Venetian Deepstacks Main Event in the middle of July, but in the end it was Tim West who would walk away with the massive $444,165 first-place prize-money.

Jesse Yawitz wins Bellagio Cup VIII Main Event

The former WPT tournament is still going strong, pulling in 126 players for the $10,000 buy-in Main Event which also occurred in mid-July.

David Allan wins ANZPT Queenstown Snowfest Main Event

The PokerStars ANZPT got back to work last week with the Queenstown Snowfest Main Event which saw 149 players enter the tournament. In the end it was Australian David Allan who would walk away with the top prize of just over $110k New Zealand Dollars, besting a very tough final table that included Brian Huang and Jordan Westmorland among others.
