The World Poker Tour (WPT) will visit Uruguay in October as it prepares to host WPT Uruguay from October 31 to November 5 at the popular Enjoy Punta del Este. Brasil Poker Live will present WPT Uruguay which will have 11 exciting events with buy-ins starting from $220 and going up to $5,000.

First South American Poker Event To Be Televised

The South American poker market has grown considerably during the last few years and top poker operators in the world such as PokerStars and the WPT are looking to promote their brands in the region. The WPT has already hosted its WPT Brasil event earlier this year and will now return South America to host WPT Uruguay and telecast the event, making it the first poker event to be televised in South America.

The event is expected to attract poker players from all over Latin America as the excitement of a WPT event and the location of the Enjoy Punta del Este will be a huge draw. The hotel is situated right on the beach which is located on Uruguay’s south east coast. Poker players will be able to have a relaxing vacation and also take part in a number of exciting events including the $5,000 High Roller event and the $1,500 Main Event.

WPT CEO Adam Pliska said that the WPT was happy to host an event at Enjoy Punta del Este and give South American poker players a chance to showcase their talent.

WPT Uruguay Final Table Broadcast

The Main Event for WPT Uruguay will take place from November 1 to 5 and players will start out with 30,000 in chips. They will have 40 minute levels to play and will go up to 60 minutes once the field reaches the money. Blinds will commence at 25-50 and all players will have 600 big blinds to start with. The final table event which takes place on November 5 will be broadcasted during Season XVI WPT television programming on the FOX Sports Regional Networks. The WPT TV Final Table which features the final six players will also be streamed live with a 30 minute delay.

The High Roller event starts on November 3 and poker players who lose out at the Main Event, will have another opportunity at a high stakes poker game. Poker players who would like to take part at WPT Uruguay but are finding it hard to raise money for the buy-ins can go to the Aconcagua Poker Network and play satellite events to see if they qualify for WPT Uruguay.

Players will need to take note that WPT Uruguay will not be recognized as an official event of the WPT Main Tour. What this means is that winners will not receive WPT Player of the Year points nor will they be given a pass to the WPT Tournament of Champions which takes place at the end of the year. This is because official WPT Events must have a minimum buy-in of $3,500 and can go up to $20,000.
