Anonymous PokerStars player JayP-AA takes big hit

A few days ago we brought you word of a new high-stakes player at PokerStars by the name of JayP-AA, who was on a three-day, $250,000, heater at the $25/$50 PLO tables against some of the site’s best PLO players including Daniel “w00ki3z” Cates. Now, the anonymous player seems to have hit his wall –don’t they all?—after a decimating $382,000 loss mainly at the hands of Cates.

JayP-AA had done well in the $25/$50 PLO games, but yesterday’s losses came at the $50/$100 and $100/$200 PLO tables, possibly outside of the player’s comfort zone, which is an old trick of seasoned gamblers; to get their opponents playing for stakes they are uncomfortable playing for. Cates was responsible for nearly $200,000 of JayP-AA’s losses yesterday, the rest going to a hodgepodge of different players at PokerStars.

After utterly dominating the $25/$50 games for the better part of a week –and running pretty well to boot—JayP-AA may have thought he was ready for the ultra-high-stakes games, but as we have seen from countless players taking their shots before him, the $100/$200+ games are an entirely different animal, and require a number of new poker skills to master.

Jayp-AA is now down for the year according to www.highstakesdb.com, and it will be interesting to see if the unknown disappears as quickly as he arrived, or if he tries to give it one more go at the PokerStars high-stakes tables.
