Today I’ll take a look at a number of stories including OnGame’s decision to slash the rake at their new Strobe Poker tables, the results of the “Challenge” match between Team PokerStars and Team Full Tilt Poker, and the latest states to take up online poker bills.

OnGame cutting Strobe Poker rake by 20%

The latest online poker network to add fast-fold poker games was the OnGame Poker Network, and for the launch of Strobe Poker (as the network is calling it) the parent company of OnGame, Amaya Gaming, is cutting the rake at Strobe Poker tables by 20%.

Strobe Poker tables on the network are played 5-handed and there are currently two different pools players can join: $10 NLHE and $30 NLHE.

Team PokerStars defeats Team Full Tilt handily

If you were hoping for some serious competition this past weekend I hope you avoided the bloodbath that was the Team PokerStars Pros vs. Full Tilt Poker’s “Professionals”, which ended in an 8-1 romp by Team PokerStars players Elky, Ike Haxton, and Daniel Negreanu. After the match there was some talk of potential rematch… as soon as Gus Hansen, Tom Dwan, and Viktor Blom finish licking their wounds.

Pennsylvania, New York, and Illinois join growing list of states pondering online poker

There is movement on three separate fronts in the fight to legalize online poker and all three states exploring the possibility are among some of the most populated in the state: Pennsylvania, New York, and Illinois.

Dan Cates and Tom Dwan spat on Twitter

Before Black Friday there were a number of long-running challenge matches taking place, and for the most part these matches fell off the board once the DOJ injected itself into the world of online poker. One of those matches was Daniel “Jungleman” Cates vs. Tom “durrrr” Dwan on Full Tilt Poker. Cates was dominating the 50,000-hand match, up over $1 million through 20,000 hands, and it seems Cates wants to resume the match and feels Dwan is dodging him, which led to the two exchanging words on Twitter:

Tom Dwan @TomDwan:Hey @junglemandan, sure. Also care to pay me our figure finally since I guess now we’re tweeting dick things we could text?
