Poker News BoyWhere to begin! When the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final is pushed off the front page you know it’s been a busy week in the world of poker.

By far this has been one of the most interesting weeks of 2012 in terms of poker news and gossip, and the topics have been far-ranging, covering everything from a major hacking of the 2+2 poker forum to the news that the Groupe Bernard Tapie plan to purchase Full Tilt Poker has fallen by the wayside, but more importantly that PokerStars may be picking up the pieces and making a push to purchase their former competitor and at the same time settle-up with the DOJ.

2+2 Poker Forum Hacked

It’s not uncommon for hackers to gain access to a website or a database (it is what they do after all) as we have seen with compromised E-Mail accounts, credit card numbers, and all manner of personal information over the years, but what is a bit uncommon is for the hacking to last 24-hours, which appears to be the case over at 2+2.

The 2+2 poker forums were the victim of a cyber attack on Thursday, and on Friday morning the site is still offline! We have a full report on the situation which you can read here: 2+2 Hacked

Groupe Bernard Tapie = Out: PokerStars = In

Normally the EPT Grand Final or the 2+2 Hacking situation would be the big story of the week, but not even those two headlines could come close to the new rumors that PokerStars is looking into buying Full Tilt Poker.

On Tuesday we learned that the Groupe Bernard Tapie pitch to take over the offline-poker-room had fallen through, hitting a snag with the Department of Justice over the group’s payout plans for players according to the press release issued by GBT. However, the REAL big news was that PokerStars had entered the fray and could very well be the poker world’s knight in shining armor.

Annette Obrestad joins Lock Poker

Right in the middle of the “PokerStars to purchase Full Tilt Poker” rumors Lock Poker made their own announcement, which seems to have fallen on deaf ears due to all of the other news going on in the poker world: Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad has joined the site as a member of Team LockPRO Elite.

EPT Grand Final in full swing

For the first time in a long time I’ve had to take away from my coverage of one of the top 5 most prestigious tournaments in poker: The EPT Grand Final. Normally the Grand Final would warrant multiple articles per day but with everything else going on we’ve been forced to provide wrap-ups of the major goings-on in Monte Carlo. PoekrNewsBoy.com will definitely keep you updated on the Main Event, and you can check out some of the preliminary results, including the Super-High-Roller tournament here.
