Poker News BoyWith a week that started off with a ton of Word Series of Poker news, as well as the rumors (that were later confirmed) that Lock Poker was leaving the Merge Gaming Network and purchasing the Cake Poker Network, it seemed like we were going to run out of room for all of the headlines!

Add to this Viktor Blom going back-to-back in PokerStars SCOOP tournaments, Daniel Negreanu coming up just short in another SCOOP event, and then a ton of high-stakes poker news from both the cash-game and tournament arena, and you’ll see why if there was ever a week for a Friday Wrap column, this is it!

Viktor “Isildur1” Blom wins back-to-back SCOOP titles

When Viktor Blom does something he seems to have a way of getting noticed. Whether it’s shattering the record for the biggest pot in online poker history (Isildur1 is responsible for the Top 10 pots btw) or winning his first live tournament by capturing the $100k Super High Roller at the 2012 PCA, Blom makes a splash.

And Isildur1 is at it again, putting up back-to-back wins in the ongoing SCOOP tournament series at PokerStars! You can read more about the young phenom’s accomplishments HERE.

Daniel Negreanu finishes second in SCOOP Event #6

While Blom was busy cashing in two SCOOP events, another Team PokerStars Pro nearly put up a W of his own, as Daniel Negreanu finished in second-place in the SCOOP event #6 (high buy-in), a 5-Card-Draw tournament. Negreanu had to battle past other top pros like ElkY and online star Iftarii.

* 1st place: Maestro Shao ($22,890)

* 2nd place: KidPoker ($15,330)

* 3rd place: ElkY ($11,760)

* 4th place: Gagarin007 ($7,980)

* 5th place: Metalguru84 ($5,880)

* 6th place: Iftarii ($4,410)

Samtrickett1: “Just sent my form off to register for the $1m buy inn tournament.Now im excited for the WSOP………..” May 08 2012

Tom Dwan wins $3.8 million pot in Macau

According to www.pokerportalasia.com Tom Dwan was the winner of a $3.8 million pot in the ultra-high-stakes cash-games:

The blinds were at HKD $10,000/$20,000 (USD $1300/$2600) when Dwan won a $30 million HKD pot. “Unfortunately, details of the action in the hand are a bit sketchy but, according to a source, Dwan was holding Ace-Ten and up against a Chinese businessman with Ace-Deuce.

“While they are not normally car crash hands, when the flop comes A-10-2 giving both players aces-up then it might be a different story. All the money ends up going in on the flop and the turn and river blank out to have Dwan raking in a pile of plaques worth more than what many people earn in a lifetime.”
