The WSOP is over; the Presidential race is over; so let’s move on to the important stuff! This week Full Tilt Poker relaunched, and the relaunch was a huge success with players flocking to the tables, but you’ve probably heard all about that already, so in this article I’ll cover some stories you may have missed while the world watched Ohio, and the poker world watched Las Vegas.

Doyle fighting cancer

A Tweet we all wished was unnecessary hit the Twitterverse yesterday as poker legend Doyle Brunson told the world that he was fighting Squamas Cell Cancer: “It was malignant. 4 times I have heard that in my life. Chilling way to start the day. Squamas cell cancer, nothing to worry about. #yeahright.” Followed by, “Tx 4 the support about the cancer. It’s a slow growth type that is usually ok but it’s something you had rather not hear. #beentheredonethat.”

We, along with the rest of the poker world are wishing Doyle a full and speedy treatment and recovery.

Everest Poker joins iPoker

The iPoker Network’s roster was bolstered this week with the addition of Everest Poker, with the largest poker network in the industry gaining some 15% in overall traffic according to pokerscout.com. Perhaps the better news for iPoker, which is locked in a battle with Party Poker for the #2 spot in poker traffic rankings, was the seamlessness of the move which caused basically zero problems.

Everest Poker also joined iPoker.fr, where the addition of the French-based site was even more impactful, where the influx of Everest Poker players saw the .fr version of iPoker suddenly become relevant.

Sun Poker closes

Another iPoker room is not going to be around to reap the rewards of the addition of Everest Poker, as the longstanding Sun Poker has announced it has dealt its last hand. All players on the site will have their accounts transferred to OmniCasino.com, so player funds are not in jeopardy, although there may be a slight increase for Poker Sites for German Players.
