Poker News BoyHoward Lederer’s interview with PokerNews.com took up most of the headline space in the poker world this past week, and what little was left was filled by WPT tournaments and the WSOP Europe, pushing a number of interesting stories off the front pages. So, here is a look at a few more of the stories you may have missed over the past week.

Phil Galfond sues BlueFire Poker

In what is turning into one of the bigger stories, and will likely be talked about even more this week, Phil Galfond has sued BlueFire Poker, the site he helped build and create from the ground-up. Galfond alleges he has not been paid for his work in 2011, and that he may have been underpaid in previous years. Galfond’s former partner and current owner of BlueFire Poker, Billy Murphy, told his side of the story in a blog post, calling Galfond unprofessional, uncaring, and stating that he failed to meet his obligations.

Dan “DJK123” Kelly wins fourth WCOOP event

In addition to the numerous live tournaments going on around the world the WCOOP is in full swing at PokerStars, and one player has already made some history in the tournament series. Dan “DJK123” Kelly picked-up his fourth career WCOOP title last week, becoming the first player in poker history with four WCOOP titles.

Kelly’s win came in the $215 NLHE event with rebuys (Event #36) where he pocketed $138,355 after defeating the 1,483 player field (there were 1,587 rebuys, and 1,060 add-ons). The former Doyle’s Room sponsored pro was also the 2009 WCOOP Player of the Series.

Another conspirator arrested in Jonathan Duhamel robbery case

Last week Bianca Rojas-Latraverse, the alleged ringleader in the home-invasion/robbery of 2010 WSOP Champion Jonathan Duhamel, pleaded guilty in Canadian court. At the same time Canadian authorities were able to apprehend the alleged getaway car driver in the crime, charging a 21 year-old, unnamed male, with driving the conspirators to and from Duhamel’s residence.

WPT going to China

The WPT can now “officially” use the word WORLD in its title, as the tournament series announced it would be making its first stop in China this past week, adding a stop to the Season XI schedule at the MGM Grand Sanya Resort in Sanya, Hainan Island, China from December 14th through the 17th, 2012.

In addition to their domestic stops in the US, the WPT now has a number of European venues, as well as events in Morocco, South Africa, and now China.
