IPO winner 15The main event of last week’s Full Tilt IPO in Dublin was won by German businessman and former power-lifter Konrad Swinarski, who confidently saw off his opponents in style to collect the title, trophy and the top prize of $47,064 in cash.

The IPO, in conjunction with UK Poker site Full Tilt Poker, consisted of a series of poker events held at Dublin’s Regency Hotel Events Centre, taking place from 21st to 26th October, with almost 1,500 entires generating a staggering prize pool of $326,564, a figure which was eventually divided amongst the tournament’s 151 top finishers.

Swinarski won the competition, with another German, Christian Böcher, coming in second place with a prize of  $42,000. The Irish player Alan White had been leading the competition for two days but in the end came third with an impressive $21,250 in winnings. UK poker players were represented in the final winners table of results by Terry Evans from Wales who came in fifth and took home an impressive $12,200.

The Dublin IPO saw more than 10 events scheduled across six days, with the highlight of course being the $250 buy-in IPO Dublin Main Event tournament, whereby poker players sit down with a generous 30,000 chips and play to a thrilling structure of 40-minute levels. The player numbers were gradually whittled down over the first two days to allow forty players to return to their seats on Day 3, each guaranteed just over $1,000. After six-and-a-half hours of play, those 40 were then reduced to the final table of nine, whose take home cash pile increased to at least $6,250.

Swinarski triumphed after he gained a huge lead halfway through the final game, and stayed cool and collected throughout the remainder of the game. His unreadable play left the other competitors constantly guessing, and there were some some dramatic fortune reversals in the game to keep avid spectators on the edge of their seats throughout.

With such a large field of experienced poker players and a convivial atmosphere at every event, the IPO Tour is always a popular and well-attended tournament series on the European poker calendar. The Dublin event came after previous stops in Bray, Cork, Newcastle, London and Killarney which produced a combined attendance of over 2,418 players and a total prize pool of $176,220 so far. The IPO Tour moves on next to its seventh stop which will be in Limerick from the 13th to the 15th of November. UK Poker players can look forward to many more IPO Tour stops to come in 2016.
