Lock Poker’s Poker Maximus off to a terrific start

Sunday marked the launch of Lock Poker’s massive tournament series dubbed Poker Maximus. Lock Poker, along with the rest of the Merge Gaming Network, will be hosting the 70 event tournament series over the next three weeks, and Day 1 got off to great start, with four tournaments taking place.

* Sun, Mar 4th — Event #1: $7,500 Nlh Freezeout $10+1

The opening event of the Poker Maximus tournament series really set the tone for the entire day’s action. Boasting a guarantee of $7,500 the tournament easily surpassed this number, wending with a prize-pool of $50,550! In all there were 5,055 players, and the winner of the event was a player using the screen-name “sizzlinbetta sucks”. Lock Poker Team Elite player Nicky Evans finished in 10th place.

* Sun, Mar 4th — Event #2: $150,000 Nlh Freezeout $100+9

The biggest event of the day on the Poker Maximus schedule was the $109 NLHE event, which drew a field of 2,361 players, generating a total prize-pool of $236,100. A player by the name of “niko79542” was the big winner of the day, pocketing the $39,105.25 first-place prize.

* Sun, Mar 4th — Event #3: $15,000 Nlh Freezeout $30+3

The prize-pool of the third event on the Poker Maximus schedule didn’t simply pass its guarantee, it absolutely destroyed it, as 2,653 players from Lock Poker and the rest of the Merge Gaming Network entered the $30+$3 tournament. The total prize-pool reached $79,950, with first-place nearly eclipsing the guarantee! The top prize of $13,159.42 went to a player by the name of Cry4Vision.

* Sun, Mar 4th — Event #4: $75,000 High Roller $200+15

This was another tournament that easily surpassed its guarantee of $75,000, as 863 players entered the $215 event, creating a prize-pool of $172,600. The Big Winner was PokerJoe561, who pocketed the $32,794 first-place prize. Team Lock Poker’s Jeffrey “HurricaneJeff” Romano finished in 5th place for 8,888.90.
