Mass exodus of US poker players continues

The list of online poker players from the United States making the move to friendlier locales has notched yet another well-known pro on Thursday, as Justin Bonomo announced his intentions to leave the US for Malta in the coming weeks.

Bonomo’s announcement came via his Facebook page where he wrote the following:

“I guess now is as good a time as any to announce that I’m moving to Malta.

“My cousin’s wedding is in Virginia on 9/16, and there’s a WPT in Malta on 9/20, so hopefully I’ll have all my stuff together in time to leave straight from the wedding to live in Malta.

“Keep an eye on my facebook statuses if you have any interest in my Apartment, Furniture, or car (2009 G37 under 9k miles)”

So not only is Bonomo leaving the US, but he seems to be setting up his own private auction, where you might be able to pick up the bachelor pad/toys of an online poker superstar!

Bonomo grew up during online poker’s heyday, and despite being wrapped up in the Multi-Accounting scandals in the mid-2000’s when he was barely out of his teens, Bonomo has gone on to redeem his reputation and is considered one of the most standup and respectful players in the game.

Bonomo is far from the only poker player who has decided that there are greener pastures, and joins other well-known online poker players like Phil Galfond, Vanessa Selbst, Daniel Cates, Jonathan Aguiar, William Reynolds, Tom Dwan, and many others who have either moved abroad or have been travelling abroad now that online poker is effectively banned in the US.
