MGM Launches Online Poker & Online Casino Sites For New Jerse

MGM Resorts International launched two online gambling sites – playMGMpoker.com and playMGMcasino.com for the New Jersey market on August 1. This was a “soft launch” with limited uptime that went very well as the company and the state regulators did a great job in ensuring that everything was fine.

The two sites are now offering excellent online casino and online poker games for players in the Garden State. Having partnered with GVC Holdings, MGM has implemented GVC’s partypoker software for its online poker room.

New Jersey was the third state to legalize online gambling in America and online operators like 888/WSOP, PokerStars and Party Borgata are the main online poker networks in New Jersey. MGM jumped on the bandwagon last year by taking full ownership of the Party Borgata casino. MGM had a fifty percent stake in the casino and took over 100 percent ownership after it bought the remaining fifty percent stake which was owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation.

So now the Party Borgata Network will contain not two but three online poker sites – which are BorgataPoker.com, nj.PartyPoker.com and playMGMpoker.com.

In a statement, Corey Sanders, CEO of MGM Resorts International said “We are thrilled to be entering the online gaming landscape in New Jersey with the expansion of our playMGM.com platform to include both casino and poker games.”

The addition of another online poker room to the Party Borgata Network is a curious move, given the fact that it might backfire and even cannibalize the existing two sites. Although it is player-neutral, playMGMpoker.com can make the network, a net negative, with its added expenses in the running. However, the MGM brand could help in poaching players from WSOP/888 and PokerStars and even succeed in pulling in players who are yet to commit to an online poker site in New Jersey.

Players who register at playMGMpoker.com and playMGMcasino.com will also be eligible for a number of cross promotions with other MGM properties. .

To kick start things, a solid promo is being launched by playMGMpoker.com that offers $25 in free money as a sign-up bonus when an actual cash deposit is made. Out of this, $15 is tournament money while the remaining $10 is cash. Players should take note of the playthrough requirement. Players get a maximum of 7 days to earn their bonus which will be released in 10 percent increments.
