Poker News BoyIt was a fairly quiet weekend as far as tournaments go (with only the EPT Madrid Main Event taking place) but the rest of the poker world was virtually on fire with rumors, gossip, and news. So here is our weekly look at the major stories from the world of poker from this past weekend.

PokerStars launches ZOOM Poker at penny-limit tables

After a few weeks of being beta-tested on their play-money tables PokerStars is now ready to unveil their fast-paced ZOOM Poker for real-money players… sort of.

As of now, ZOOM Poker will only be available at penny-limit tables, until all of the bugs are worked out. Once they are ready for a full launch players at PokerStars will find ZOOM Poker games (which are essentially a version of Full Tilt Poker’s Rush Poker) at a variety of stakes and formats, including tournaments.

Cardplayer calls out the Epic Poker League

Last week Cardplayer posted a lengthy article detailing the Epic Poker League’s debts, and at the tail end of the week the Epic Poker League responded to these allegations on PokerNews.com. However, the story doesn’t end there, as shortly thereafter Cardplayer posted links to all of their claims from court documents, refuting the EPL’s side of the story.

We posted a full report on this controversy this past weekend, which you can read HERE

Isildur1 avenges loss to Haxton in latest Superstar Showdown

Last week Viktor “Isildur1” Blom suffered his forst loss in a Superstar Showdown match on PokerStars since the first-ever match was played between himself and Isaac Haxton in December of 2010. Haxton once again bested Isildur1 (after Isildur1 ran off a string of eight straight wins) last week, coming back from a $100k deficit at one point.

Well, this week Isildur1 took on UK poker pro Andrew “Kanu7” Millar, and got back to his winning ways, booking a $37,000 profit. We’ll have a full write-up off the match tomorrow, so hopefully this quick update will suffice for now.

Friday comes and goes with no news on Full Tilt deal

So all of the hubbub surrounding the sale of Full Tilt Poker to Groupe Bernard Tapie last week appears to have been much ado about nothing, as Friday came and went with no word of a deal, and no update from any of the principles involved.

Earlier today I wrote an Op-Ed on the supposed deal that never took place, which you can read HERE.
