Poker News BoyMost of the headlines this week revolved around the launch of New Jersey online gambling, but that wasn’t the only thing happening in the poker world this week; keep reading for a rundown of the past week’s top poker stories.

Online Poker launched in New Jersey

I’m not going to spend too much time on this story as the story is being thoroughly covered at virtually every online poker portal on the Internet, but I will see that the soft-launch that began on Thursday evening has US poker players feeling pretty optimistic about a potential second Poker Boom.

Party Poker Premier League VII underway in Montreal

The Playground Club in Montreal is not only playing host to the WPT Montreal tournament series, it’s also playing host to the seventh installment of the Party Poker Premier League. We’ve been following this story over on our sister site pokerforums.org if you want to see the lineup playing in the $125k buy-in event.

FTOPS XXIV kicks-off this week on Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker announced the latest installment of their FTOPS tournament series; the 24th in the site’s history. This time around the FTOPS XXIV will feature 39 events taking place from November 24 through December 8, culminating with the $1.5 million guaranteed Main Event.

Senior Poker Tour announced

Apparently the massive fields drawn to the $1,000 buy-in Seniors Poker Tournament at the World Series of Poker hasn’t been going unnoticed. This past week a poker tour for players aged 50 and over was announced, fittingly called the Senior Poker Tour. According to the press release, the tour will feature 17 stops and will get underway in January.

USA Today op-ed getting a lot of attention

A scathing criticism of online poker appeared in the USA Today opinion page this past week, with the same old tired arguments being voiced by the unnamed author.
