PokerStars versus Full TiltAfter a flurry of activity on Tuesday, as the first whispers of a deal that would see PokerStars buy Full Tilt Poker turned into roars, poker players are once again waiting for the news that they will receive their now-frozen Full Tilt poker funds. There has been little in the way of progress two days later, and unfortunately it seems we are once again in the exact same spot, only this time it’s PokerStars where we are waiting on and not Groupe Bernard Tapie.

The latest information that has come to light has been mainly specifics provided by poker investigator DiamondFlush regarding the now-defunct deal between Groupe Bernard Tapie and Full Tilt Poker. However Wicked Chop Poker is now also confirming that the deal between PokerStars and Full Tilt poker is complete, but it should be noted that WCP also stated that the GBT/Full Tilt deal was about to be announced just a few weeks ago.

Thus far we have seen some very credible sources announcing the deal, or that credible sources have been telling them of a potential deal: PokerFuse.com, WickedChopsPoker.com, the CEO of Chili Poker Alex Dreyfuss, poker insiders like Shaun Deeb, Karak from 2+2, and even NoahSD finding the reports credible.

Even PokerStars decided the situation warranted a statement; even it ended up being completely ambiguous:

“We’ve had a lot of enquiries and there’s lots of speculation on the forums, so I wanted to address the PokerStars chatter. As you know, PokerStars is in settlement discussions with the U.S. Department of Justice. As such settlement discussions are always confidential, we are unable to comment on rumors. As soon as we have information to share publicly we will do so.”

We also know for a fact that the deal between GBT and Full Tilt Poker is “officially” off, with statements released as well as a statement from the Aldernay Gaming Control Commission (AGCC) has called-off the hearing for Orinic ltd’s (a subsidiary of Full Tilt poker parent company Pocket Kings) reapplication for a gaming license.

“Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has today been advised of the decision by Orinic Limited to withdraw its application for a Category 2 licence.

“Accordingly, the public hearing scheduled for Thursday 3rd May will now no longer take place.”

So where does this leave the poker players? Basically in the same boat we have been in for the better part of a year; waiting, and hoping, that a deal to purchase Full Tilt Poker will go through.
