Robert Angood Takes Down PKR Live

The Fox Poker Club in London played host to the latest PKR Live event at the weekend, the sixth in fact, and it was attended by a very healthy 243 players. The eventual winner was Rob Angood who walked away with the title and a very tidy sum of £36,638. With all the bad press poker has been getting of late, due to recent events in the United States with Black Friday, you would think that player numbers would be down on events such as the PKR Live. Not so, in fact quite the opposite. Including this event, and the PokerStars UKIPT in Cork and the Dusk Till Dawn record breaking Grand Prix, there were a total of 2,409 players in the three events at the weekend. It just goes to show that poker here in the UK is going from strength to strength. Back to the PKR Live and Angood can feel mighty proud of his achievement at the weekend as there were some

big names in the field. Neil Channing, Nik Persaud and Jerome Bradpiece were all in attendance at the Fox Poker Club, but none of them managed even the final table. When there were just four players left a deal was struck and it was Angood who beat Kevin Ayow heads-up to seal the title. The final hand saw Angood turn over KQ to Ayow’s A2. A Queen on the turn was good enough for Angood to scoop the winners cheque and the title. The final table placings and payouts are listed below. His previous best performance was on the PokerStars UKIPT where he reached the final table in Manchester. As always there was also some good side action at the weekend with Anthony Roberts taking down £3,000 in the £100 event and Alan Calzari bagging £3,375 in the £250 event.
