The PokerStars.net European Poker Tour Barcelona Championship wasn’t the only game in town for Spanish poker players this past week, as elsewhere in Spain the Spanish Poker Tour Grand Finale was taking place in Lloret del Mar, at the Gran Casino Costa Brava. The SPT is sponsored by Everest Poker –which is based in neighboring France—and Everest Poker sent an impressive 52 players to the tournament through satellite tournaments hosted through its online poker room where they are offering a great Everest Poker Bonus at the minute.

Although smaller in scale than the EPT, the SPT Grand Finale had a solid showing of 120 players including some of Europe’s biggest poker stars like Dutch star Steven van Zadelhoff, Koen de Bakker, Leo Margets and Claire Renaut. With a buy-in of €3,200, the tournament produced the SPT’s largest prize-pool to date, and the winner, Marvin Rettenmaier of Germany, walked off with an impressive €111,000. Renaut, an 888Poker sponsored player and model, finished in 2nd place which was good for €60,000.

Everest Poker also hosted a €48,000 invitation-only free-roll tournament for the SPT’s top 45 players. The tournament was won by Spain’s Leo Margets who will take home the €15,500 in first-place prize-money. Margets initially rose to fame as the last woman standing in the 2009 WSOP Main Event, where she finished in 27th place, and has gone on to win over $100,000 since playing in tournaments around the world.

This marked the third year of the Spanish Poker Tour which has no grown to include six total stops: Aranjuez, Valencia, Sevilla, Castellón and Ibiza, as well as the Grand Finale Championship tournament.
