Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world was buzzing with excitement as usual on October 1. More than 25,000 fans gathered together in a lot opposite the Mandalay Bay Resort to attend a country music festival that featured some of the top bands in the business including Jason Aldean and Eric Church.

Mandalay Bay – Worst Shooting In America

Stephen Paddock had checked himself into the Mandalay Bay on September 28 and managed to bypass security and get as many as sixteen rifles and one handgun into his room on the 32nd floor. The 64 year old then started to spray the crowd with bullets and shot till his magazine was empty before turning to another weapon. His rampage lasted for over 10 minutes and resulted in 59 people losing their lives and more than 500 being injured – some of them with life threatening injuries.

The police were able to identify quickly that shots were coming from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay and stormed the room to find that Paddock had taken his life through a self-inflicted gunshot. The FBI and the LVMPD have established that Paddock was working alone and did not have any ties to terrorism groups but are yet to confirm the motive for the mass shooting. The Mandalay Bay shooting is now the worst shooting to have taken place in U.S history.

Dan Bilzerian – Right In The Middle

Instagram king and high-stakes poker pro Dan Bilzerian was part of the crowd that had gathered outside the Mandalay Bay. Bilzerian posted a video on Instagram and said that he saw a woman get shot in the face right beside him and saw her brains hangout. Bilzerian confirmed that based on the shots he was hearing, there was no doubt that a high caliber weapon was being used. He fled the scene along with thousands of others but returned after getting one of his guns but by then it was all over.

Poker Pros Express Shock And Hurt

Thousands of poker pros in America and around the world hold Las Vegas close to their hearts as they have made countless trips to play poker at Las Vegas casinos. Many of them woke up to hear the news on television and social media and were shocked at the attack. They took to social media to express their hurt and anger but also used it to call on locals to donate blood for the 500 plus who were injured.

Poker pros like Liv Boeree, Mike Leah and Lacey Jones said that the news had left them devastated and they called on the people of Las Vegas to remain strong. Danielle Anderson said that ‘Stephen Paddock’ should not receive any attention and his name should not be mentioned and he should die as a ‘nobody’.

Casinos in Las Vegas will now have to review their security measures in light of the Mandalay Bay shootings and ensure they provide their guests with better protection.
