Online poker network Cereus have been within the media for a number of reasons and after the outing that their software encryption, which is custom to their own network, was proven to have a fatal flaw, the members base at the poker network which contains Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet quickly began to decrease.

The flaw meant that members where able to break the encryption that the site had running on their online poker rooms and find out both personal data as well as poker related data from any other member that was seated around their table.

Things weren’t improved either when PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker decided that they were going to roll out their hugely popular online poker tournament series which both offer players the chance to win a share of huge prize pools for their participation in their tournaments.

The timing of the tournament series on offer at the two forerunners of the online poker industry really couldn’t have fallen at a worse time for the Cereus Poker Network homed poker rooms, with many members more than willing to leave their online poker site with the two biggest online poker rooms becoming their new destination.

Overall the network revealed that they had seen a ten percent decrease in player traffic to their site and accrediting the drop to both of these factors that seem to drag the Cereus Poker Network to their knees.

Although the site has seen a decrease in the traffic to the site, they are still holding their own within the top ten online poker room listings, although they have fallen within that list from 6th place to 9th place.

From what we can see, the online poker network will have to work hard in order to get their travelling members to return to their network or they will risk a further fall within the top ten poker room listings due to the influx of online poker rooms that seem to be looking to break into the top ten ranks.
