Pennsylvania casinos taking a crash course on table games

Table games are coming to Pennsylvania casinos – which currently only have slot machines—and the casinos that are looking to be licensed are scrambling to teach their boards and staff the ins-and-outs of the 20+ table games the Pennsylvania bill allows.

Casinos have to teach their dealers and croupiers not only how to run the games properly, but just as importantly how to detect cheating and deal with problems that arise from mistakes. This is one of the major reasons Pennsylvanians will be waiting at least 6-months before the first blackjack pit, poker table or roulette wheel starts appearing.

The casinos will likely begin with the most popular table games like poker, roulette and blackjack adding more exotic games as time goes by. Some popular, but non-mainstream games include Pai Gow Poker, Baccarat, and Caribbean Stud, will likely be included in the second wave of games added. There are also numerous games that are wildly popular in the Asian community like Fan Tan that will also have to be learned by the casino staff.
