3 women inducted into the Women in Poker HOF

On September 2nd, 2011, Kristy Gazes, Phyllis Caro, and Margie Heinz will join 10 other women as Women in Poker Hall of Fame members. The three inductees were chosen from a short-list that was announced in early July that also included Ku Nan “Nani” Dollison and JJ Liu, and with the votes now in, the 2011 class of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame is now decided.

Gazes is one of the top ranked female tournament players in the history of poker, and has over $1 million in tournament winnings: Margie Heinz was a trailblazer for women in the poker industry and was the first women to deal in the World Series of Poker after lobbying Jack Binion –and did such a good job that she was the dealer during the Wide World of Sports televised final table in 1977: Caro is the wife of noted poker author and Draw specialist Mike Caro, and has been working in the poker industry for decades, currently holding the title of Director of Poker Operations at Hollywood Gardens.

Here is a look at the previous inductees beginning with the inaugural class of 2008:

* 2008 — Linda Johnson, Marsha Waggoner, Susie Isaacs, and Barbara Enright

* 2009 — Cyndi Violette, Jan Fisher, and June Field

* 2010 — Jennifer Harman, Kathy Liebert, and Billie Brown

The induction ceremony will take place on September 2, 2011 in the Grand Ballroom at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, Nevada; festivities will begin at 6PM and are scheduled to last until midnight. For more information on the event you can head on over to the Womens Poker Hall Of Fame website.
