Interview with Lock Poker’s Allinstevie
Poker News Boy got an exclusive interview with the newest Lock Poker recruit, Stevie ‘Allinstevie’ Devlin. This is how it went.
PNB:
How did you first get interested in poker? How long have you been playing serious poker?
Allinstevie:
Playing some sort of poker most of my life, started playing home games when i was like 15/16, progressed to the local tournaments when i was 19/20. Started doing well in the local tournaments and after a good run i decided to invest in a laptop and try online poker. That’s when i probably started taking it more seriously instead of just treating it like a hobby, i realised i could make quite a bit of
money playing the game.
PNB:
So when did your first big cash come?
Allinstevie:
Deposited $50 or whatever a few times which i lost, then managed to win a $20 180 seater one Friday night for just over $1000 which was huge for me at the time, following Sunday i won a satellite into the Sunday million and finished 13th for $5500 which started off my bankroll.
PNB:
How many times have you gone completely broke over the course of your poker career then?
Allinstevie:
None. If you don’t include losing a few $50 deposits when i first started playing online.
PNB:
How would you classify your style of play?
Allinstevie:
Prefer to play loose aggressive but will switch it up depending on how my tables playing.
PNB:
How do you prepare yourself for a session of online poker? Do you have any routines that you stick to?
Allinstevie:
Not really always like to have my senses about me , so will always have a shower and a bite to eat b4 i start playing.
PNB:
You have been described as one of the UK’s best online poker players. What do think when you read these comments?
Allinstevie:
Proud, theres a lot of talent at the minute from the uk, so it feels good to be mentioned along with them.
PNB:
In your oppinion, who should also be mentioned in the catogorie as the best UK poker players?
Allinstevie:
There’s so many now its unbelievable, but was privelaged to stay in a house in Vegas for the last few summers with 3 of the best, Moorman, Poalo69 and geeforce1.
PNB:
So how was Vegas and the WSOP? Do you have any stories that you can repeat?
Allinstevie:
lol unfortunatly not, too many of them ended up in a drunken degeneracy and trips to the rhino.
PNB:
You did have a decent run in the WSOP Main Event though. How was that for an experience?
Allinstevie:
Yeah, main event is the tournament everybody looks forward to the most all year and is still the most prestegious tournament going, so was definatly a lot of fun having chips in it for a few days but a real dissapointment to get knocked out approaching the money bubble.
PNB:
You did cash though in other WSOP events this year. Were they the first WSOP cashs you have had?
Allinstevie:
I only cashed in one WSOP event the previous year and managed three this year so hopefully I’m moving in the right direction and can have a big year next year.
PNB:
You have been fairly busy since the WSOP. Signing up with Lock Poker. How did that happen?
Allinstevie:
Randy Kasper, a poker agent representing Lock Poker approached me outlining who lock poker were and their plans for the future, I was interested immediatly after talking with randy and am glad to be joining the team at Lock.
PNB:
So do you see signing for Lock Poker the next chapter of the Allinstevie story? And what do you hope for next year?
Allinstevie:
It be nice to run good in a live tournament. Luckbox a win somewhere.
PNB:
What would your advice be for someone wanting to take up poker fulltime?
Allinstevie:
Ideally you’d want to have 6 months living expenses set aside outside of your poker bankroll and make sure you have the poker bankroll to withstand the inevitable swings that come with the game.
PNB:
What do you prefer, Online or Live?
Allinstevie:
I prefer online, simply because of the hands per hour, i find myself getting quite bored sometimes playing live because of how slow it can be.
PNB:
Who would be your favourite Online poker player?
Allinstevie:
moorman1 as he’s a close friend of mine and hes recently took back the number 1 spot in the online world.
PNB:
Live player?
Allinstevie:
Ivey
PNB:
Favourite online poker site?
Allinstevie:
Lock Poker
PNB:
Who do you think the best Irish Online poker player is, apart from yourself?
Allinstevie:
j.thaddeus
PNB:
And finally favorite place to find out about Poker News?
Allinstevie:
PokerNewsBoy.com obviously.
PNB:
