Annette Obrestad joins Poker Royalty

It looks like one of the top free agents in poker may soon have a new home, as it was announced on Friday that Annette Obrestad has signed with the poker representation firm Poker Royalty. Historically this has been a sign that the player in question will soon be signed to a major sponsorship deal, but thus far no dollar amounts have been given, neither have any sponsorship deals been announced.

Obrestad is a Norwegian poker pro known initially by her online screen-name of Annette_15, and is now one of the best-known poker players in the world, first for her online exploits (which have reached legendary status) and later for becoming the youngest World Series of Poker bracelet winner in the 40+ year history of the tournament series. Obrestad set the record at the WSOP Europe Main Event, when she captured one of the most prestigious titles in poker at the age of 18!

Obrestad is still only 23 years-old, and has already amassed nearly $4 million in live tournament earnings during her short career, making her a good bet to soon become the all-timed leading money winner amongst female players. Her poker career began online where as a mere teenager she became one of the most feared tournament players on Internet.

Obrestad has been a free agent since Full Tilt Poker went offline, where she was one of the focal points of the site’s marketing campaigns after joining the site as a sponsored pro. Her new deal with Poker Royalty will see the company take over the management and marketing of her career. Poker Royalty works with several high-profile poker clients including Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Scotty Nguyen and Doyle Brunson, as well as European talent like Gus Hansen and Carlos Mortensen, and is considered the leading poker management firm in the world.

In a press release at the PokerRoyalty.com website both Obrestad and Poker Royalty Director of European Operations Jim Erwood stated the following:

“I am thrilled to announce I am officially signed to Poker Royalty. I have known about the company for a few years and know their positive reputation in the business is well deserved. I am relying on them to help me advance my poker career to the next level” said Annette after signing with Poker Royalty.

“Annette is without question one of the biggest names in poker and certainly one of the top few females in the world playing the game today. Poker Royalty is extremely proud & delighted to announce Annette’s signing and is looking forward to helping her cement her reputation in the game” said Jim Erwood, Director of European Operations for Poker Royalty.
