Doyle Brunson responds to Annette Obrestad
Annette Obrestad made some serious headlines this past week, and it wasn’t because the World Series of Poker rookie made a big score in a poker tournament. No, Annette made news thanks to an interview in ESPN the Magazine where she said “Girls suck at poker”, and that she would rather square off against poker legend Doyle Brunson than online poker players because, “Online players process information so much faster and don’t let their egos get in the way of becoming a better player. No disrespect to Doyle, but I’d rather play him.”
Well after a few days news of the comment must have made its way to Doyle Brunson who responded on his Twitter account by saying, “Must be a bad time of the month for Annette what’s her name. By the way, I’m at Bobby’s Room almost every day if she really wants to play.”
As strong a tournament player as Annette is, I’m pretty certain walking into Bobby’s Room with the notion of finding an easier game than she participates in online would be one of the biggest mistakes in her young career. In 50 years nobody has gotten the better of Doyle Brunson, either at the tables or in a war of words (see Layne Flack and Joan Rivers).
