PokerStars, the online gambling giant frustrated thousands of players during the last 24 months as the Amaya Inc owned company made significant changes to its operations, rewards program and general policies. One of those major changes was scrapping the popular PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) which was introduced back in 2014.

The PCA was held on an annual basis in the Bahamas during the month of January and hundreds of poker pros from around the globe started their poker journey with the PCA. The tournament allowed them to combine vacation time with high stakes poker action as the $10,300 PCA Main Event was the most popular event in the tournament.

PokerStars Championship Bahamas Flopped

PokerStars decided to drop the PCA and replace it with a new and revamped tournament called the PokerStars Championship Bahamas. The new tournament was introduced in 2017 and players were surprised to see how different the new tournament was when compared to the original PCA. The tournament organizers increased the number of events from 31 to 98, replaced the $10,300 PCA Main Event with a smaller $5,300 Main Event and ended up changing the tournament environment from being relaxed and enjoyable to fast paced and stressful.

Players were not happy with the new PokerStars Championship Bahamas and shared their displeasure in poker forums and social media channels, hoping that PokerStars would take into consideration their feedback and make appropriate changes for the 2018 edition. PokerStars recently announced that it had decided to drop the PokerStars Championship Bahamas for 2018 and will reintroduce the popular PCA based on player demand.

PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Back In 2018

The company confirmed that the PCA will once again take place Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island from January 6 to 14, 2018. PokerStars has decided to follow the same format and the 2018 PCA will feature a total of 31 events as well as the popular $10,300 Main Event.

Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars Director of Corporate Communications said that the company paid careful attention to its player feedback and found that players were not happy to see the PCA disappear as it had turned into one of the most popular tournaments in the world. PokerStars decided to restore the PCA and stick with the old format. The company has also decided to reduce the overall rake by $300,000 and organize a $50,000 freeroll on Jan 14. Players who participate in any of the PCA events will be eligible to take part in the freeroll. A full list of events will be published at a later date.
