One of the most exclusive clubs in the poker world is the Triple Crown –players who have won a World Series of Poker bracelet, a World Poker Tour Championship, and a European Poker Tour Championship. With just four current members, the Triple Crown is one of tournament poker’s greatest accomplishments, and is on every poker player’s “Bucket List”.

Gavin Griffin will go down in the annals of poker as the first man to capture poker’s Triple Crown, a feat he accomplished in January of 2008 after capturing the WPT Borgata Winter Open Championship, winning just over $1.4 million in the process.

Griffin’s first win came in the $3,000 Pot Limit Holdem tournament at the 2004 World Series of Poker where he was one of the first young online poker players to make a name for himself; shocking the poker world in a dominant win with his aggressive style.

Griffin captured the second leg of the Triple Crown in March of 2007, when he won the EPT Grand Finale in Monte Carlo, pocketing his biggest score to date with a nearly $2.5 million payday.

Griffin has been fairly quiet in the poker world since winning the Triple Crown, and was released by his sponsor PokerStars in 2010 –a shocking move considering his synonymous with the Triple Crown. Despite his lack of results over the past three years, Griffin is still considered a very strong tournament player, and his next big win could come any day now.
