Jonathen Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel was born in 1987 in Boucherville, Canada. Jonathan found his calling for poker while at school, he started to learn the game by playing first friends but soon realised the depth and opportunity in it. Like so many young players he left school early where he was studying finance to pursue his professional poker career. It seems to be working out for him so far as Jonathan is currently sitting as one of the November 9 in the WSOP Main event and is in fact the chip leader. He has also has his fair share of success on the live tournament circuit.
Duhamel is no stranger to televised tournaments. At the EPT series 5, Jonathan just missed the final table finishing in 10th for a nice 40k euro payout. He has also played in the EPT grand final and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. In the WSOP Duhamel has cashed over 40k worth of prices with 15th place in the $1.5k donkament and 50th in the 1.5k 6 max tournament.
Duhamel is the chip leader by quite a margin sitting on over 60 million chips with the second place player holding around 45 million. Considering he is no stranger to big money tournaments we can assume he will be able to hold his own at the tables. Though nothing is set in stone it looks like Duhamel is a lot of people’s favourites to clinch the title and go down in poker history. He did not satellite in to the main event but bought in directly so he must be pleased with his investment so far as he is guaranteed to take home a minimum of $811k and that does not include sponsorships.
