Cake Poker Network changes stance on HUD’s
For years the Cake Poker Network has been staunchly against allowing players to use Heads-Up Display’s (Known in the poker world as HUD’s) taking a number of steps to dissuade and disallow their usage at any of the network’s online poker tables. It now seems that the entire network will be making the necessary changes to ALLOW players to use HUD’s at the network’s numerous online poker rooms. According to an article that appeared in Card Player Europe, Intertops Poker (a member of the Cake Poker Network) was quoted as saying:
“… we are in the process of making some further changes to allow players to use 3rd party software that provide HUD’s such as Poker Tracker and Hold’em Manager.
“In a live game players are permitted to take notes on any opponent that they play against.
“In the past we always provided this capability for our players but we never allowed any 3rd party software vendors that gave players enhanced note taking and hand history information.
“As always players are encouraged to change their nickname every 7 days to combat any form of tracking if they wish. We are still 100% against any form of HH sharing or reselling.”
The Cake Poker Network will still protect players wishing to stay anonymous at the poker tables by maintaining their screen-name change every 7-days policy, but the new tact on tracking software and HUD’s is a major change in the network’s policy; it will be interesting to see how this affects the sites’ traffic numbers and fish-to-shark ratio –which is typically the main reason cited by opponents of HUD’s and tracking software.
