Melanie Weisner newest Lock Poker Team ELITE pro
Throughout the entire Black Friday debacle the Merge Gaming Network’s flagship online poker room, Lock Poker, has continued to add to their talented roster of poker pros, known as Team ELITE, and this weekend they picked-up yet another of poker’s rising stars, Melanie “Callisto” Weisner. Weisner is the latest addition to a vaunted roster that includes Lock Poker’s Poker Room Manager Eric “Rizen” Lynch, UK superstars and online legend Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, Spanish star Leo Margets, and Matt “allin420” Stout among others.
With the fairly recent addition of Margets (the last woman standing in the 2008 WSOP Main Event, and now the former Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Weisner (one of the most prolific tournament players on tour), Lock Poker now has one of the best female rosters in poker.
Weisner was first baptized in the world of poker while she attended New York University (NYU) after seeing her brother have some success playing online poker. After working her way up the poker hierarchy, Weisner is now a double-threat, excelling in both multi-table tournaments as well as Heads-Up Sit & Go tournaments.
After amassing over $1.2 million in winnings in the online arena Weisner made the move to live poker, where she devotes most of her time, currently playing a full schedule in Europe and in the US. She hasn’t quite broken through with a major win at this point in her career, but with the sheer number of deep runs and cashes she has made over the past few years, a major tournament title is just a matter of time, evidenced by her Top 100 ranking on the Global Poker Index.
Weisner cashed six times at the 2011 WSOP (five in the US and once in Europe), as well as four EPT Championship event cashes in her brief two-year live tournament career. With nearly $400k in live tournament winnings already, Weisner is considered one of tournament poker’s rising stars.
In a press release Lock Poker CEO and owner Jennifer Larson had this to say about the signing of Weisner to Team ELITE, “Melanie is a perfect fit for Lock. Passionate, relentless in her dedication to the game and incredibly intelligent… Players like Melanie give us the true insight into the product and player experience that we need to become the best. Partnering with our players is the true path to greatness.”
Larson’s adulation was seconded by Poker Room Managher Eric Lynch, “I feel honoured to have the opportunity to work with Melanie… I’ve known Melanie for a while and her ferocity at the tables and passion for the game of poker are unmatched.”
“I am thrilled to join a team of world-class players and talented peers such as Chris Moorman, Matt Stout and Leo Margets,” Weisner is quoted as saying. “I feel very honoured to be a part of this exciting and growing brand, and look forward to representing Lock around the world.”
