The rumored deal between PokerStars North American Poker Tour (NAPT) and ESPN started on Daniel Negreanu’s poker blog, and Cardplayer Magazine was able to find a second, unnamed, source to confirm the story: Although both PokerStars and ESPN refused to comment on the story.

On his blog Negreanu wrote the following: “The NAPT will be added to the ESPN roster and we have some amazing ideas that will make the NAPT very special, and very successful…”

Generally, tournaments televised on ESPN tend to draw larger crowds, as people seek a major, televised, tournament win, and the untold riches that accompany them in the form of sponsorships and endorsement deals.

The NAPT will be a three-stop tour with the Venetian and Mohegan Sun hosting events along with the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure –which was technically the first tournament of the NAPT, but most consider the event to be held at the Venetian in February to be the inaugural stop of the tour.
