First major tournament after the WSOP gets underway

As poker players from around the world begin to return home after a month and a half in Las Vegas for the 2011 World Series of Poker, the other major poker tours are also getting back into the swing of things, with the first tournament to get underway being the PokerStars.net APPT Melbourne tournament.

Kicking off Season 5 of the APPT the Main Event in Melbourne featured a $5,000 AUD buy-in, and attracted a total of 260 entrants. With a prize pool of around $1.2 million, the winner of the Main Event will be pocketing a solid $330,000 AUD. Here is a look at the Final Table payouts for the APPT Melbourne Main Event:

A total of 176 players made it through to Day 2 of the tournament with Australian Mitch Carle leading the way. Some notable names still in the hunt include Van Markus, Jonathan Karamalikis, Bryan Huang, Tony Hachem, Chris Moneymaker, Billy “the croc” Arygos, and David Gorr. Here are the top 10 chip counts heading into the second day of the APPT Melbourne Main Event:

4. Phil Wilcocks — 110,100
