Hachem and Ramdin battle for The Big Event title

Posted by Steve Ruddock on Mar 11, 2011 Posted in Poker News | 1 Comment »

It’s not every day that you get two big names battling heads-up for a major poker championship, but this is precisely what occurred at The Big Event Championship at the Bicycle Casino yesterday, as Team PokerStars Pro Joe Hachem and Victor Ramdin navigated a tough final table to face each other for the championship.

Both players were among the chip-leaders throughout the tournament –with Ramdin holding the chip virtually throughout the entire tournament—and considering the were the most experienced players left at the final table, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that they would be the last two standing.

The heads-up duel was a back and forth affair, but in the end it was Ramdin who would emerge victorious, winning the title and pocketing $500k in prize-money. After Ramdin built up another sizable lead, the heads-up duel looked to be swinging back into Hachem’s favor as he got all his chips in the middle with AK and was called by Ramdin’s AJ; alas a Jack on the flop sealed Hachem’s fate and gave the victory to Ramdin.

Here is a look at the final table payouts for The Big Event Championship:

1.    Victor Ramdin — $500,000
2.    Joe Hachem — $300,000
3.    Jeremy Ausmas — $190,000
4.    Taylor von Kriegenbergh — $140,000
5.    Bryan Leskowitz — $100,000
6.    Govert Metaal — $75,000
7.    Jose De Noronha — $55,000
8.    Santiago Nadal — $35,327
