High-stakes poker games return to Macau
According to the numbers that were thrown around on Andrew Robl’s Twitter last night, the big cash-games have once again sprung-up around the APT Macau tournament, and they could be even bigger than ever this year. According to a post on his Twitter account, the young poker star, Robl is in Macau and after starting out on a hot-streak he ran into a bit of dry spell, “Been gambling big in Maccau. Won 2 million USD straight and was very thankful. Now lost 2 million straight. Thankful for other things
.” Well, with those numbers maybe hot streak and dry spell are a little understated.
Robl is top-notch cash-game player who began his poker career at the virtual tables in cyberspace, playing in the highest-stakes games online under the screen-name “good2cu”, and has also gone on to prove his skills in both live cash-games and tournaments. With online poker in the US on a hiatus (US players are still asking, is Bet Online safe) Robl has apparently decided to try his hand at the Macau games.
Other players rumored to be participating in the Macau cash-games are one of last year’s big winners in Sam Trickett, one of the professional poker players who is somewhat of a regular in Macau in Johnny Chan (whose name appeared on the entry list of the APT Macau tournament), the always present Tom “durrrr” Dwan, and even Cirque de Soleil founder and billionaire Guy Laliberte supposedly made the trek to Macau to participate in the highest-stakes cash-games in existence.
We also know Phil Ivey is in Macau, having made Day 2 of the APT tournament, but nobody has verified his presence in the high-stakes cash-games up to this point.
