World-Series-of-Poker-July-2010-dealer-tables-300x200This weekend all eyes will be fixed on the $10,000,000 guarantee Main Event of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown but there has been some major action taking place across the entire country, and the world for that matter, since the World Series of Poker ended in July. In this week’s installment of This Week in Poker Tournaments we’ll get you caught up on all of the tournament action, from Arizona to Foxwoods.

2013 World Series of Poker Circuit Series Foxwoods Main Event

Buy-in = $1,500: Total number of entries = 590

When I saw the results the name Jason Strasser definitely rang a bell, but I couldn’t quite place it. After a little investigation (AKA visiting his Hendon Mob page) I realized it was because Strasser has been MIA from poker for nearly half-a-decade. The one-time online and live tournament prodigy has apparently been busy on Wall Street, but it would also seem he’s been keeping his poker skills sharp as well.

1. Jason Strasser – $186,600

2. Wes Wyvill – $115,069

3. Joe Morneau – $84,414

4. Bryan Leskowitz – $62,555

5. Mike Guadano – $47,095

6. James Rubin – $35,898

7. Scott Baker – $27,545

8. Keith Donovan – $21,770

9. Frank Pezzullo – $17,357

Arizona State Poker Championship

Buy-In = $1,000: Total number of entries = 1,299

The Arizona State Poker Championship isn’t an overly well-known tournament, but every year the tournament draws a big field, and quite a few pros, and this year was no exception on either front.

1. Joe Kuether – $246,161

2. Kelly Minkin – $151,983

3. Daniel Hirleman – $116,910

4. Justin Riches – $88,982

5. Zachary Kottler – $77,940

6. Jason Bidwell – $64,950

7. Edward Clark – $51,960

8. Nidel Salem – $38,970

9. David Kaminsky – $25,980

WPT Legends of Poker: Mega Millions VII

Buy-In = $160 w/ $100 add-on OR enter on Day 2 for $5,000: Total number of entries = 6,598 + 5,933 add-ons

Over the course of 21 starting flights (yes, 21 starting flights) the $1,000,000 guaranteed Mega Millions pulled in an enormous number of players thanks to its seven-figure guarantee and measly $160 buy-in.

But on top of this, the tournament is one of the more interesting formats I’ve ever seen, giving players a chance to buy-in for $160 and receive an add-on for another $100 (players could also reenter on separate starting days) OR, just buy into the tournament on Day 2 for a cool $5k!

1. Christopher Kwong – $243,034

2. Jesus Sanchez – $151,848

3. Joel Tushnet – $84,810

4. Nipun Java – $63,545

5. Jordan Cristos – $49,510

6. Lirio Fontamillas – $39,360

7. Armando Mesina – $31,805

8. Rupesh Pattni – $25,750

9. Davis Aalvik – $20,795
