World-Series-of-Poker-July-2010-dealer-tables-300x200We were in a holding pattern for major tournaments over the past week, in between the Borgata Poker Open and the upcoming PokerStars EPT London series, but there was still plenty of action at smaller events across the globe

Tong Victorious at HPT Commerce

Despite a final table that included Allen Kessler and Josh Pollock the Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at the Commerce Casino crowned a champion who not only won his first tournament, but it was only Kris Tong’s fourth tournament cash according to his two Hendon Mob pages –yeah, he is one of those guys with two.

Tong makes the most of his cashes though, considering one of his other three cashes was a runner-up finish in Event #5 at the 2013 WSOP, while the other two were a pair of final table appearances at the WSOPC Harrahs St. Louis in 2011.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Kris Tong – $165,090

2. Shawn Motameni – $117,880

3. Mel Weiner – $75,800

4. Huy Quach – $56,060

5. Josh Pollock – $42,080

6. Quan Tran -$33,720

7. Peter Hegsakul – $28,110

8. Louis Werman – $22,420

9. Allen Kessler – $16,820

Carter Gill is “Impressive” in the LAPT Panama Main Event

While Carter Gill was “not impressed” with his elimination from the 2013 WSOP Main Event, he is probably a little happier with his recent showing at the PokerStars LAPT Panama Main Event where he finished in 4th place. Unfortunately for Gill, the final three then made a deal, so he probably would have locked-up a little more prize-money had he gotten involved in the discussions.

The $1,500 buy in tournament attracted a field of 570 players. Here is a look at the final table payouts from the tournament:

1. Galal Dahrouj – $132,535*

2. Joel Fernandes de Oliveira – $114,540*

3. Jesus Kafati – $106,365*

4. Carter Gill – $57,060

5. Paulo Carrillo – $42,960

6. Raul Pino Arza – $32,180

7. Joseph Stefan – $23,880

8. Marco Oliveira – $18,080

9. Brandon Paster – $14,260
