Pokers pros stand out at PokerStars NAPT Main Event
Prior to the tournament PokerStars was hoping for about 600 entrants for the North American Poker Tour Main Event being held at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. With 60 tables setup in the main ballroom they were prepared to easily handle 600 players, but as registrations kept coming, tournament officials did a great job of creating a second area in the main poker room that would eventually house 15 additional tables for the tournament.
At the end of the day 716 players entered the NAPT Mohegan Sun Main Event, a great number for both Mohegan Sun and PokerStars, creating a $3.2 million prize-pool; with $750,000 going to the winner.
Despite the large field the top seven chip-counts belong to big name poker pros, led by 2004 WSOP runner-up and Bodog pro David Williams with 230,900 chips.
Obviously Team PokerStars was in full force at the event with almost their entire delegation of sponsored pros making the trip, but a number of other sites also sent strong contingents: Full Tilt Poker was represented by Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan, alas only Ivey survived the day; The aforementioned David Williams from Bodog; UB’s Brandon Cantu and Adam Levy will be in action on day 2; Doyles Room pros, Hoyt Corkins, Dani Stern, and Amit Makhija also survived day 1.
Remember you can find Poker Reviews or even be able to get VIP Rakeback deals at most of the Online Poker Sites mentioned in any of the posts on PNB.
