Sam Trickett leads Partouche Poker Tour final table

In the few days preceding the run-up to the final table of the Partouche Poker Table, Sam Trickett had been surviving, not thriving. But all of that changed on Saturday as the UK poker pro vaulted from the middle of the pack to the chip-lead as the final nine players were determined.

The Partouche Poker Tour will now go on a 6-week hiatus, with the final nine players set to return on November 12th to battle for the €1 million that will go to the winner of the event –9th place is worth €100k.

Last year Vanessa Selbst was in a similar position to Sam Trickett –holding a slim chip-lead—and managed to win the controversial tournament and the €1.3 million prize awarded a year ago. For those that don’t recall, the 2010 Partouche Poker Tour saw final table member Ali Tekintamgac disqualified for cheating after league officials were tipped off to the scam and went to the videotape for evidence. This left the final table to be played 8-handed and usurped most of the headlines from what was one of the biggest tournaments of the year.

This time around there has been little in the way of controversy, but then again last year’s malfeasance wasn’t revealed until the day before the final tab le was set to start.

Joining Trickett at the final table are a couple of other well known European poker players, including Oleksii Kovalchuk and Roger Hairabedian. Kovalchuk won a WSOP bracelet in 2011 as well as the Kiev stop on the Russian Poker Tour in February, making the Partouche Poker Tour final table his third six-figure cash of 2011. Hairabedian is a prolific tournament player participating in tournaments across Europe and Northern Africa. The PPT Main Event marks his 8th career six-figure cash, and will add to his already impressive $2.6 million in career tournament winnings.

Here is a look at the seating assignments and chip counts for the remaining nine players in the 2011 Partouche Poker Tour Main Event:

* Seat 1: Alexander Dovzhenko – 944,000

* Seat 2: Mads Wissing – 2,124,000

* Seat 3: Salman Fouad Behbehani – 2,446,000

* Seat 4: Mustapha Kanit – 2,047,000

* Seat 5: Samuel Trickett — 2,605,000

* Seat 6: Oleksii Kovalchuk – 1,626,000

* Seat 7: Roger Hairabedian – 1,890,000

* Seat 8: Ilan Boujenah – 1,216,000

* Seat 9: Alexandre Coussy – 2,473,000

With Dovzehnko the shortest stack at just under a million chips, all of the final table participants have plenty of play left in their stacks, thanks to the tournament’s Matt Savage approved structure. So it should be an interesting final table come mid November.
