Tournament Poker Report: WSOPC, HPT, and more

The World Series of Poker is not even upon us yet, but the tournament scene has been extremely busy over the past week, with players hustling and bustling across the globe to partake in a number of major tournaments. In addition to the EPT Grand Final and the WPT events in Florida, poker players had numerous options this past week, including the WSOPC in St. Louis, a WPT Regional event in Marbella, Spain, the Chad Brown Poker Challenge, and the HPT Canterbury in Minnesota!

Here is a look at some of those tournaments that poker fans may have missed while following the WPT and EPT tournaments:

WSOPC St. Louis

625 players registered for the $1,600 Main Event at the WSOP Circuit Series stop in St. Louis, creating a $900,000 prize-pool. A slew of top tournament players made deep runs in the tournament, including the eventual winner, Tripp Kirk, who picked-up his third WSOP Circuit Series ring.

WPT Regional in Marbella, Spain

There is little information to report coming out of the 2012 WPT Regional event in Marbella, Spain, but we did happen across the final table payouts for the tournament which you’ll find below.

1. Patrick de Koster — €150,000

2. Peter Linton — €90,000

3. Jose Carlos Lopez — €54,500

4. Phil Porter — €38,800

5. Inma Marti — €29,000

6. Antonio González — €22,950

7. José Luis Plaza — €17,200

8. Daniel Keller — €12,850

Chad Brown Poker Challenge

In Durant, Oklahoma this past week the Chad Brown Poker Challenge was held, featuring a $1,900 + $100 Main Event. The event attracted 258 players making this one of many tournaments this past week that awarded over $100k to the winner.

Here is a look at the final table results from the tournament:

2. Seneca Easley — $71,980

3. Nghia Truong — $52,005

4. Andy Philachack — $38,273

5. Jared Jaffee — $28,672

6. Bahman Jahanguiri — $21,849

7. Mark Dunavin — $16,928

9. Jeffrey Watterworth — $10,661

HPT Canterbury

333 players registered for the $1,650 buy-in Main Event at the latest stop on the Heartland Poker Tour, generating a total prize-pool of over $473k. The tournament produced the largest prize-pool in Minnesota history and was won by Nasir Alkhatib.
