Sam Holden may not have been able to win poker’s biggest prize at the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event, but the UK native did add to the $782k he won for his 8th place finish in poker’s biggest tournament by winning the latest installment of the popular UK television show Late Night Poker.

32 players took part in the latest running of Late Night Poker, all with hopes of taking down the $150,000 first-place prize, but in the end it was Holden who would come out victorious after besting the brash-talking Luke “FullFlush” Schwartz in heads-up play. Holden became the second member of Team 888 Poker to win the Late Night Poker series, joining fellow Team 888 player, and Late Night Poker Season 5 Champion Padraig Parkinson.

Holden is the 10th winner of the Late Night Poker title, joining Dave Ulliott, Simon Trumper, Phil Hellmuth, Hemish Shah, Padraig Parkinson, Peter Costa, Andreas Jorbeck, Huck Seed, and John Duthie as a Late Night Poker Champion. John Shaw, Raul Mestre, David Tighe won other versions of Late Night Poker, dubbed Ace 1, Ace 2 and Masters respectively.

Late Night Poker will forever have a place in the poker annals thanks to the use of the “Under the Table” cameras that revealed each player’s hole-cards to the viewers –the first ever usage of a hole-card camera in a televised poker show. The success that the hole-card camera brought to Late Night Poker led to the World Poker Tour and ESPN’s decision to use similar technology, and we all know what that did to the game!
